History. The first PROVEN Men small group was held in 1999. In 2001, Proven Men Ministries, Ltd. was formally incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization, and the IRS granted it tax exempt 501(c)(3) status. Proven Men Ministries is located in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., and also uses the trade name "1 Way Out of Pornography" to highlight its vision of bringing the hope of healing from pornography, masturbation, fantasy and lust to men desiring to live a holy and PROVEN lives.

Responding to a Great Need. The need is great for the message of hope. Over one-half of men struggle with sexual impurity. One recent survey showed that nearly 20% of all people spend an hour a day viewing pornography on the Internet. In addition, the average age for a person to first be exposed to pornography is an alarming 5 years old. In short, an entire generation is fleeing from the pain associated with real relationships and turning to the temporary escape offered by fantasy. Proven Men Ministries is right there helping one man at a time and training organizations to gently restore men who have fallen.

Philosophy: Programs and self-help efforts do not bring about lasting results. In fact, although following rules and setting limits or boundaries may have the appearance of wisdom, they lack any real value in restraining sensual indulgence (Colossians 2:20-23). The roots which feed and keep sexual impurity alive are pride and selfishness, which must be addressed. A person struggling in these areas changes only when his heart towards God changes. In fact, sexual purity is not a goal to be obtained, but the byproduct of a life centered upon pursuing the Lord with all of your heart. Real intimacy with the Lord is the antidote for the desire to escape into a fantasy world. The PROVEN model for divine intimacy and a complete transformation of heart and mind involves being:

Passionate for God
Repentant in Spirit
Open and honest
Victorious in living
Eternal in focus
Networking with others.

Statement of Faith:

• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
• We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
• We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
