EPISODE SUMMARY
Art Pereira is a Christian who is sexually attracted to other men. He joins us to exclusively answers your questions.
Art answers questions about same-sex attraction and Scripture, how to find a church, how to come out to friends, and so much more!
Some Questions from the Interview:
What has it looked like for you to reconcile passages in Scripture about sexuality and your identity?
From your experience, what has been the most challenging element for you of navigating Evangelical culture?
What have you looked for in a church in light of your sexuality?
Do you get tired of trying to explain your experience to people? Or the topic in general?
SSA Christians can feel socially unmoored as they rely on friendships for connections with people. However, friendships tend to be at the mercy of job markets, mission callings, and often suffer when one of the friends marries, has kids, becomes too busy. What advice can I give a SSA Christian who, unable to enjoy the unconditional companionship of a marriage, feels relationally insecure?
What advice would you give to other same-sex attracted (SSA) Christians who are afraid about coming out – not so much for fear of being exiled from church or family, but that such a confession would mar the intimate, platonic friendships they have with Christians of the same gender (who might, for example, begin to misread every hug you’ve ever given them)?
