In January, we launched Proven Women, because lust struggles are not just ‘guys issues’ and the need is very real. Last week we did an interview with former porn star Brittni De La Mora. Brittni wrote the foreword for our Proven Women curriculum and this week we want to share that foreword with you all! Also, at the bottom is a discount code for the Prove Women 12-week guide!
I was in the adult film industry for seven years of my life. Like many people, I was searching for love and acceptance. I was searching for the right things, but I was searching for them in all the wrong places. For many years, I believed the lie that sex and promiscuity were empowering, that I was somehow more loved if a man would sleep with me. This very lie is what led me into the porn industry; this lie is also what is leading the secular world today and sadly much of the church. The truth is, we are not empowered through sex, nor how desirable we are to the opposite sex. We are empowered because of who we are in Christ. It took me nearly 26 years of my life to discover this truth.
I thought I would find what I was looking for in sex, fame, and money but after seven years in the porn industry I was left more broken than before. I had become a full-blown drug addict, doing whatever drug I could get my hands on. My life was a mess.
In December 2012, I was on an airplane flying to film a porn scene in Las Vegas when I decided to open up a Bible I had been given three years prior at a church service I had attended with my grandparents. I turned to Revelation 2:20-24 (NIV). It said, “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.” Wow! What a scripture to digest just hours before I had to shoot a sex scene.
I began to cry on the airplane and I asked God for forgiveness. Out of deep conviction, I quit the porn industry that day. I knew if this wasn’t the lifestyle God wanted me to lead then He must have something far greater for me in store. So, I began to search for God daily through the Bible, prayer, worship, fasting, and church. When I sought God, I found Him and in Him I found everything my heart had been longing for. God has set me free! In fact, I am now married and my husband I travel the world preaching on purity because this was something we lived out. The day I fully gave my life to the Lord is the day I committed my purity to Him. My husband and I waited for marriage and didn’t dabble in porn nor masturbation. This is good news friends, because if I can do it then so can you. Remember, with God nothing shall be impossible.
Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV) says, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” This is why I love Proven Women!

Brittni De La Mora
Brittni is a wife, young adults ministry leader, and passionate advocate for women involved in the sex industry. At the pinnacle of her career in the adult entertainment industry, she had acquired fame, money and success by having landed over 250+ roles in film. However, the prominent memories she recalls during this time were the deepest, darkest days of despair leading her to survive by way of drugs, alcohol, and ultimately, failed suicide attempts. It was through a divine series of events, she began to encounter the love of God and that became substantial enough for her to make a dramatic, unexpected decision by all who knew her to leave the industry overnight once and for all. Now she travels around the world with her husband, Richard, preaching the gospel, and sharing the love of God that set her free and is a firm believer if He did it for her He can do it for anyone else who would just believe in Him.
