Conversation Summary:
Jay Holland is a pastor who joins us to discuss what lust has been like in marriage. Jay has also been creating parenting resource for 20 years. He discusses specific temptations and difficulties that children are currently facing and how parents can address them.
One of the ways that this conversation is helpful is by Jay’s honestly about the difficulties of marriage—the disappointments, frustrations, hurts, and even the loneliness. Marriage is not supposed to “fulfill” us, and fantasy doesn’t magically disappear at the alter.
Jay also points out that, as parents, we can accidently ignore or downplay the influence that shows and movies and friends and technology are all having upon our children. However, the truth is that kids are the target audience that the porn industry spends hundreds of millions of dollars in marketing upon. That industry has one purpose: to expose our children to the human products they sell. To make it even worse, Apple and Hollywood and YouTube and TikTok are all running their own companions for our children’s attention.
Join Jay and Shane as they talk through the purpose of marriage and how parents can protect their children!
